Masks
Mask is an intriguing framework for art due to its long history and direct link to human psyche. In my work it is mainly a signification of human presence. In these works I combine textile with painting creating visual objects with a mystery element. These “theatre paintings” were inspired by modernist painters as well as Magritte and his philosophical ideas. Closely related is a series of two sided soft paintings, and a full wearable costume painting. References to art history play an important role in these works which give literally a different perspective to painting.
Due to the expandable nature of these works I also to make a short film “Mask Adventures”, a philosophical quest to search for the nature of reality. The film is currently not available online.
The masks and costumes are available also for custom performances and art projects. Contact me for further queries.
Wearable costume painting ‘Personnage de l’horizon’ – also heavily inspired by Magritte. The work explores inside-outside experience and language-perception relation in a form of an open painting, defined by it’s user.
A selection from a smaller textile masks series titled “Elementary beings”.
